You'll Never Be the Best
Embracing our unique journey: A perspective on growth.

Often, we glance at others' lives and think theirs might be better than our own. We marvel at their accomplishments without always recognizing the unseen efforts they've invested behind the scenes.

A friend was amazed to learn that someone from our school had mastered over four languages fluently. These stories can be inspiring and intimidating at the same time. We may feel encouraged to dream, yet it may also discourage us.

However;

There's always someone better than you

There's an old saying: "Comparison is the thief of joy." When we're in constant competition with others, we overlook our own progress and potential.

It's vital to understand that there will always be someone ahead of us in some way or another. But does that mean our efforts are futile?

Absolutely not.

I've adopted a mindset where I remind myself: I might never be the best at something. And that's okay.

Instead of getting caught in the quagmire of comparison, I choose to see it as an endless horizon of opportunities. If I haven't reached the peak, it means there's always more to explore, learn, and improve upon.

I might never be the best at something. And that's okay.

This mindset has unlocked doors for me. No longer burdened by the weight of having to be the "best," I found my growth to be exponential. My potential, previously overshadowed by self-doubt and insecurity, shone through.

Talent is overrated

It's easy to fall into the trap of believing that innate talent is the key to success. But in reality, talent is just one piece of the puzzle. Hard work, perseverance, and a relentless drive can often bridge the gap where natural skill might fall short.

I don't have talent and will never be "talented". But I can do the other things: hard work, perseverance, and relentless drive. That's how I motivate myself.

Ultimately, it's not about wishing for changes or lamenting perceived inadequacies. It's about taking action. Dreams remain dreams until we breathe life into them through our efforts. Every small step brings us closer to our goals, but wishing alone won't make them happen.

So here's to all of us, not bound by the need to be the best but driven by the desire to be better than we were yesterday.

Dreams remain dreams until we breathe life into them through our efforts.

I hope you find this inspiring. Remember:

It's not going to be easy,
But it's not impossible.

Your friend,
Brian
