They were all reactions to our actions

They were all reactions to our actions

When I was younger, I thought life would somehow figure itself out. But that's not how it works, right? But one day, it just clicked for me.

I realized something so simple yet powerful: if I keep doing the same things, I'll keep getting the same results.

I realised this at the end of 2023 when I realised that I was overweight. In less than a year, I gained 10 kg without realising it until I saw myself in the mirror, and I hated how I looked.

I was no longer fit. My clothes were too small, and I had to wear baggy clothes to feel confident when going out. I couldn't run and play football the way I used to, and I hated my body. I don't even take pictures with friends because I really don't want to see myself in the image.

But what was I doing about it? Nothing. I still ate twice as much as I should. I stayed up late, playing games and scrolling on my phone. I woke up tired every day, and the first thing I ate was sugary stuff. Obviously, I never exercised because I am too heavy to enjoy sports.

Then, my body did what bodies do—it stored all that extra food, got bigger, and felt tired. That's how nature works. That was the natural reaction to my actions.

But one day, I decided enough was enough. I started moving my body, eating real food, and going to bed on time—simple stuff, really. In two months, I lost 8 kg, I had lost 80% of the weight I had gained in the past year.

I had only changed my habit for 2 months, and most of my problems were solved.

It wasn't magic. It was just cause and effect: action and reaction. When I broke the loop, the pattern wouldn't repeat.

Life is pretty simple when you think about it. Don't like something? Change it. Want different results? Do different things.

Sometimes, the prison that kept us from being better human beings was actually our self-sabotaging habits.

Change isn't instant—it's not supposed to be—but it happens if you keep showing up, day after day.

So, if you want your life to change, start with changing yourself first.

The rest will follow.

I hope you find this insightful. Remember:

It's not going to be easy,
But it's not impossible.

Brian.
